Nigeria · Singer, Songwriter, Afrobeats artist
FOLA is the professional name used by the artist whose official site identifies him as Folarin “FOLA” Odunlami, while TurnTable Charts has identified him as Odunlami Afolarin Temiloluwa. He has also used the alias Folapondis, explained in a TurnTable interview as meaning “Fola on this.” Public music sources associate him with Lagos: his official site calls him Lagos-based, and Apple Music lists Lagos State, Nigeria as his origin.
FOLA’s early publicly cited tracks include “Miss You,” “Money Chaser,” “Feeling,” and “Ginger Me,” before “alone” featuring BhadBoi OML became the release most clearly identified with his 2024 breakthrough. The song was later reported by TurnTable Charts as having peaked at No. 7 on the Official Nigeria Top 100, while the BNXN remix was reported to have peaked at No. 4. In the same period, Punch and TurnTable Charts documented Bella Shmurda’s October 2024 announcement of FOLA as a new Dangbana Republik signee or member.
FOLA’s debut EP “what a feeling” is documented by his official site and an EMPIRE release page as a 2024 project, with the EMPIRE page listing six tracks including “who does that?,” “alone (Remix),” and “alone.” His debut album “catharsis” followed as a 2025 release; official and EMPIRE pages document it as an eleven-track album, and TurnTable Charts later treated it as a major chart-performing debut.
TurnTable Charts’ reporting gives FOLA’s career a measurable public footprint in Nigeria’s recorded-music charts. It reported that “catharsis” had spent 14 non-consecutive weeks at No. 1 on the Official Albums Chart as of February 17, 2026, describing it as the longest-running No. 1 debut album in Nigerian chart history. It also reported that Shoday and FOLA’s “Paparazzi” reached No. 1 on the Official Nigeria Top 100 in January 2026, after earlier FOLA top-ten entries including “who does that” with Bella Shmurda, “Get Better” with Zlatan, and “you.”
As of the August 10, 2026 review date, Apple Music listed “treat u right - Single” as FOLA’s latest release, dated July 2, 2026. Official and EMPIRE pages identify the track as a FOLA and Ayra Starr release, though the title styling differs across sources: the official site uses “Treat You Right,” while Apple Music and EMPIRE use “treat u right.”
