Her official biography portrays a musical household: her mother is a physician, and her father was a touring musician before becoming a full-time engineer. She began writing songs as a child and later taught herself music production. She has said that her stage name reclaims a derogatory expression associated with military treatment of civilians and reflects her experience of violence and unrest in northern Nigeria.

Breakthrough and recorded work

Her first single, "How To Kill A Man," was released in October 2022. The following month, she appeared with Rema on "Wake Up" for the Black Panther: Wakanda Forever soundtrack compilation, receiving credits as lead vocalist, songwriter and co-producer. She followed these releases with the debut EP Anger Management in June 2023 and recorded an interpretation of Bob Marley's "Natural Mystic" for music inspired by the film Bob Marley: One Love in 2024.

Recognition and continuing career

Bloody Civilian was included in NME's 2023 list of emerging artists and was listed as a Headies Rookie of the Year nominee that year. The Black Panther: Wakanda Forever compilation containing "Wake Up" later received a Grammy nomination, although the Recording Academy's nominee credit names the compilation's principal producers rather than Bloody Civilian individually. As of August 2026, she remained publicly associated with 0207 Def Jam, and the latest release documented on her Apple Music page was "SpaceFuji" with Terry Apala and BOJ.
