Aig-Imoukhuede completed a Bachelor of Laws degree at the University of Benin in 1986 and was called to the Nigerian Bar in 1987 after attending the Nigerian Law School. He also holds an Executive MBA jointly awarded by the London School of Economics, New York University and HEC Paris.
Following a management buy-in transaction, Aig-Imoukhuede became Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Access Bank Plc in 2002. He led the bank until 2013, making that tenure the central part of his public profile in Nigerian banking.
Aig-Imoukhuede was approved as a director of Access Holdings effective 8 March 2024 and appointed Chairman of its board effective 13 March 2024; company leadership materials reviewed in August 2026 identify him as Non-Executive Chairman. His other roles have included founding Chairman of FMDQ Securities Exchange, President of the Nigerian Stock Exchange Council in 2013, Chairman of Coronation Group, Chairman of EnterpriseNGR and Co-Founder of the Tengen Family Office.
As Chairman and Co-Founder of the Aig-Imoukhuede Foundation, he is associated with programmes focused on public-sector effectiveness, leadership development and primary-healthcare access. He has also served on the International Advisory Board of the University of Oxford's Blavatnik School of Government, although the most recent supporting roster among the reviewed materials is its 2025 annual report.
