Bold like David before Goliath
Courageous like Joshua before Jericho
Trusting like Jesus before Calvary
The secrets behind the success of great men, they say in their stories. If this is true hen the life and activities of great men ought to be carefully studied taking into cognizance their motivations desires and aspirations. A study of great men (good, bad and ugly) shows a common gateway in their lives. This gateway is one of the strongest factors that distinguished them from their folks and contemporaries and place them in a class of their own. This gateway I call DIFFERENT.
All great men, whether living or dead were regarded as great because they were in some way different. They did the unusual, broke the norm, crossed limiting boundaries, left the traditions of men, moved far from comfort zones, they rejected the ideology of "as it was from the beginning so shall it be till the end". They refused to be normal, lead normal lives, eat normal food, read normal books and die normal. The desire to be different was the one factor that pushed them towards the attainment of hitherto impossible heights and they became great. Being different from them was not a mere wish, it was a thing they consciously pursued; an obsession.
Rosa Parks was unknown until December 1st 1955, when she was arrested for flouting bus segregations law in Montgomery, Ala. USA. Before this fateful day black and whites were not meant to share they same seat in buses and where the bus becomes crowded blacks where required by the law to give their seats to white passengers. On that day Mrs. Rosa Parks, boarded the Cleveland Avenue bus. She took a seat in the fifth row the first row of the colored section. As the bus became crowded with white passengers, Rosa was required by law to give her seat to the white. Unlike every other blacks she dared to be different by refusing to get up and so was arrested. Her arrest ignited the bus boycott led by Martin Luther King Jnr. The boycott finally came to an end on December 21st 1956 after the US Supreme Court ruled out bus segregation as unconstitutional. Rosa Parks, and other Blacks had won because she, dared to be different, her simple acts against galvanized Americas civil Revolution. Had she refused to be different the Americans Law would have remained the same. Daring to be different makes you an achiever as it places you in a unique category. You become a pacesetter with the privilege of calling the shots ad setting the standards for others to follow. You become the first and probably the only in that field of endeavour.
Friends its time to break loose from the usual, the norms, form traditions and pick up the challenges of doing something different. Only things that are different make the news. But then, daring to be different has a price attached to it. When a dog bites a man, its no news but let a man bite a dog, youll find it in every paper and on the cover page. Let this sink into you.
If you stand for nothing you will fall for anything. Only men who have a vision born from Gods presence can dare to do the unusual, the impossible, the uncommon. Success is a progressive realization of predetermined and worthwhile goals, it is getting your significance from your relationship with the Father. The only men who are respected are those who are ready to walk out of mediocrity and do that which makes them a fool before men but full of the spirit of faith before God. People follow you when they perceive you have something to offer a vision, a passion, a commission, a mission.
Daring to be different also means going through the painful process of trials and error, making mistakes that you could have avoided if you had worked in the familiar paths. It is Taking a route that seems unreasonably slow in the computerized jet age were even a primary two child wants to get things one in microwave speed. But you must realize "no pain no gain". The rewards attached to being different are worth it. Your success will be unparalleled for a long time, if not ever. You become second to none; history will celebrate you and your name in gold. What a privilege and joy to affect your generation and world at large. But this will come only if you dare to be different. But may I not end without saying this: the anointing makes the difference in your life, and that anointing is obtained and retained only by a life which seeks daily to Dwell in His Presence.
YOU ARE WHAT GOD SAYS YOU ARE, STOP FOLLOWING CELEBRITIES, IT`S YOUR TIME TO BE CELEBRATED.
