"A Dream Called NIGERIA
|"A Dream Called NIGERIA|
|For so long it has remained a mere dream ...
For so long it has remained a mere dream in the heart of all men of good will and our patriots; a dream of a great star nation, with unequalled economic, military and political might among the black race. Sometimes pessimism seems to suggest that it might never be but in spite of the seeming insurmountable obstacles towards its accomplishment, the dream still lives and deeply rooted in my heart and that of all men good conscience & great faith.
Our destiny as a nation is obviously admirable in the face of vast potentialities- abundant mineral resources, arable agricultural land mass, men of great prowess & talents in every fields and endeavors, a great number of record-breaking "hot brains" both at home & in Diaspora, the truth remains that the entire world knows & recognizes Nigeria's unique traits and for us, giving up is not an option.
The failure of the realization of this great, unified & prosperous giant among the African nations as complex to understand as it may seem could be construed to our collective failures and inability to forge a national entity devoid of ethnic, religious & economic interests and considerations.
The enthronement of materialism and the societal acceptance of unworthy values that borders on tribalism, nepotism, bribery & corruption just to mention but a few has left what was supposed to be one of the greatest nations of the world in a shambles wearing tags and labels like "the second most corrupt nation of the world" and always on top of the list of every negative global indices- a tragic reality indeed.
Security, unity, peace & stability upon which nations thrive have remained mere illusions. Ethnic and religious intolerance ravages our communities and our street flooded with shed bloods of fellow brothers. Leaders and followers alike have failed and must share in the blame. And to worsen matters, men & women of dangerous and shameful antecedents keep manipulating their ways to the seats of power of course with the help of a vulnerable and hunger-stricken electorate, injustice culminating in restive actions and the exclusion of peace has made the polity always at the brink of uncertainty and fear of sudden collapse.
We can go on and on to enumerate these problems and ills but I guess all that will be important and inevitable right now will be national renaissance, a vehement and yet non-violent revolution in our minds & consciences. In every worthwhile ways let us all arise to the occasion and make history, let us be among those who will leave the stage better than when how we met it. It calls for sacrifices, an uncompromising resistance of evil and evildoers in the land, lets not be intimidated by their money bags and the might they lay claims to. There was (and still is) a dream called NIGERIA- a home of greatness, fulfillment & a wonder to the world. According to Edmund Burk what it takes for evil to thrive in a society is that good men just fold their arms and do nothing, It's a sacred calling, a must-accomplish mission, we will either make it or mare it, God Almighty will help us.
