You know i read with interest this article. it is the same message that genuine muslims across the world want us to hear and believe. However, I have my doubts becuase when you read extracts of the Quran, the language used does not entertain love, peace and unity.
It is very violent, talking of of submission, fighting non believers.
This is not the language of love, peace, unity or harmony. It strikes me that we the non muslims are getting mixed messages somewhere along the line.
So can you explain how you would convince a non-muslim about these violent languages in the Quran?

I am a christian and I have never read the Quran.
But, I have read the Bible. There are lots of violent messages in the bible as well.
Stories of cities being wiped out to make room for the 'choosen people of God'
My point is, these texts are old and written for different times.
It's up to current believers to live a life that shows respect for this life and the life after.

The Quri'an may not be yet understood but surely there are no violent words therein and moreover it is wholly God's Words and there is nothing anybody can do to it,beleiving or rejecting it should be anybody's free choice.

I concur with both guest and mentor - bith bible and Quran has violent words, however the quran has a touch more violence about it than the bible which would explain why some of its followers take it to the extreme and practice what they read.
Any body that says there is no violent language in the quran is out to mislead.

am not a muslim but i blv d quaran is misunderstood, likewise d way some few xtians interprete their own bible, but d question is will u practise what is morally not accepted by d majority of d society at large or follow d teaching of some prophets?... mind u teaching from a prophet and instruction from God are diff things....and i will like to ask d muslims bros and sisters here two questions... Did God instructed all true muslims to kill others that are not?... why do northern muslims condemn southern muslims in naija?

if they are not muslims, then who are they?remove violence from the sons of Ishmael they have nothings else to do.the bible says concerning him that he shall be a desert man who shall live by the spear of violence.also, that his hand shall be against every man and every man's hand shall be against him.
what about the caravan raids on the trans-jordan routes? how did the earliests muslims survive after the death of Kajdijah and the eventual colapse of er business?

Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam, the Tamil Tigers, they perfected the sucide belt. The concept of self-sacrifice pre dates the birth of christ. Actually, there's a nice example from the bible (I am assuming your motivations):
Samson said, 'Let me die with the Philistines!' Down came the temple on the rulers and all the people in it. Thus he killed many more as he died than while he lived." (Judges 16:30)
If you say muslims destroyed the twin towers, then you have to also say that christians carried out the Oklahoma city bombings.
Also we will have to blame christians for the monthly killing sprees that now happen in the US (at universities, malls, & high schools).

There you go, you have something against muslims.

No No, Landlord Arinze..
Even I have complained about the sensless killing of
Women and children regardless of which countries or
religions are at logger heads.
When I use those words.. what I am trying to express,
is, why should innocent people get dragged into the
mad equation of taking lives.
I think that is what Joe was trying to express.
Joe if I am wrong..pls correct me.
I just don't grasp why people can't just wake up and
be nice to one another...
